Fort Dodge Men Charged In Cylinder Bank Robbery

November 23, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– Charges have been filed against two Fort Dodge men in connection with the December 11th robbery of the Iowa Trust and Savings Bank in Cylinder.

Palo Alto county authorities say 21-year-old Michael Bradley Hart and 20-year-old Samuel Steffens Cornell are charged with second degree robbery, second degree arson and first degree theft, all class “C” felonies.

The sheriff’s office says charges are pending against a third male suspect and other individuals for aiding and abetting.

Palo Alto county authorities say a search warrant was executed at Cornell’s residence last Thursday. He was served arrest warrants Friday at the Humboldt county jail where he’s being held on unrelated charges.

Authorities say Hart was arrested Friday in Mound View, Minnesota. He’ll be transported back to Palo Alto county on Iowa warrants.

Palo Alto county authorities say a suspect entered the Iowa Trust and Savings Bank in Cylinder December 11th and demanded cash from a teller. The suspect got away with an undetermined amount of money and was last seen in a burgundy car. The suspect vehicle, a 1998 burgundy Monte Carlo, had been reported stolen from a Gilmore City auto dealership. The vehicle was found abandoned and on fire northeast of Rodman.
