(Arnolds Park)– The Arnolds Park City Council Wednesday evening awarded a bid on a street project that’s been a source of controversy for some who live along it.
Several people expressed concern over plans to rebuild Okoboji Grove Road at a public hearing last month. Most were concerned over provisions for a bike trail along the street and its proximity to homes.
With two members absent, the council voted unanimously Wednesday evening to award the low bid of 313,946-dollars on the project submitted by Allied Construction of Charles City. The bid was well under the engineer’s estimate of 411,157-dollars.
City Administrator Ron Walker says that means assessments to the property owners that will help pay for the project should be less than originally thought.
The project has a July 1st completion date.
