(Des Moines)– State Auditor Richard Johnson is out with his annual report on Dickinson county finances.
It shows the county had local tax revenue of nearly 24 million dollars for the year ended June 30, 2001 which included 864,000 dollars in tax credits from the state. The county forwarded 20.3 million dollars of the local tax revenue to townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies.
The county retained 3.65 million of the local tax revenue to finance county operations…a four percent increase from the previous year. Other revenues included 2.8 million dollars from the state; 807,633 dollars in local option sales tax; 50,675 dollars in lodging tax proceeds and 502 thousand on interest in investments.
Expenditures for county operations totaled 8.4 million dollars…a five percent increase from the pior year. Expenditures included 2.1 million for roads and transportation; 1.3 million for mental health; and 1.3 million dollars for public safety.
