(Spirit Lake)– Officials with Iowa Lakes Community College Tuesday took the wraps off the recently completed 11-thousand square foot expansion of the Spirit Lake attendance center. The expansion, which nearly doubled the size of the original building, consists of a technology center featuring a state-of-the-art computer lab, classrooms, and a distance learning classroom using both the ICN and fiber optics.
Spirit Lake businessman Ivan Brown was among the guest speakers. He told the crowd the expansion represents a collaboration with the community, business and industry.
Aileen Schacherer, Director of the Spirit Lake ILCC attendance center, says the expansion is the direct result of a 468 percent growth in enrollment at the center since the first center was built here six years ago.
Tuesday’s ribbon cutting came at a special time for Iowa Lakes as the college is observing its 35th anniversary this year.
