Storm Lake Teen Accused Of Stabbing A Man Is Back In School

November 23, 2014

(Storm Lake)– Authorities say they’re surprised to learn that a Storm Lake teen accused of stabbing a man to death is back in school.

Storm Lake Superintendent Bill Kruse says he hasn’t had any complaints from parents since 16-year-old Isaac Cruz started attending classes again last week after spending time in a juvenile detention facility.

Buena Vista County Attorney Phil Havens says he was surprised to learn Cruz was back in school. Havens thought Cruz was supposed to be in detention until he was atleast 18.

Cruz pleaded guilty to burglary for his role in the death of 47-year-old Jorge Ramos. Cruz was originally charged with first degree murder.

Another teen, Rene Zarate, was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.
