(Spirit Lake)– Following the continuation of a public hearing last evening, the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors voted two-to-one to purchase the Vacationland Laundromat just west of the courthouse.
Supervisor David Gottsche cast the lone dissenting vote.
The county will pay 85-thousand dollars at six percent interest over five years with a 10-thousand dollar downpayment.
The crowd was almost evenly split between those in favor and those opposed to the proposal.
Those in favor say the purchase will help the county keep its options open for any future courthouse proposal.
Those opposed say the supervisors should wait until the results of a courthouse survey are known. They also accused the county of a hidden agenda on the courthouse plans…something supervisor chair June Goldman again denied.
