Proposed Change In Road Use Tax Distribution Concerns County

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A proposal to change the way in which road use tax funds are distributed is causing concern among several northwest Iowa counties.

The proposal would shift most of the funding from rural counties to cities and urban counties.

Dickinson County Engineer Dan Eckert says the county stands to lose about 569-thousand dollars in funding…or about 40 percent of its overall road construction budget.

The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors signed a resolution Tuesday opposing the proposed change.
