Okoboji Officers Arrive In Salt Lake City

November 23, 2014

(Salt Lake City, Ut.)– Okoboji Police Chief Dave Jacobson and officer Mitch Watters have arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jacobson tells KUOO news they arrived late Monday.

Jacobson and Watters are among more than 500 officers from throughout the country working security at the Winter Olympics.

Jacobson says the scene is almost indescribable. He says security is unprecedented. Jacobson says even security officers are being banned from events they weren’t originally assigned to cover. And he says they have been told emphatically NOT to take photographs of any athletes or to get autographs.

Jacobson says they’ll be undergoing extensive training over the next couple of days…prior to Friday’s opening ceremonies.

Jacobson and Watters have been assigned to work security at the Delta Center in downtown Salt Lake City…where most of the figure and speed skating competitions will be held.
