(Estherville)– Charges have been filed against a Milford man in connection with a high speed chase Thursday that started in Estherville and ended about a half mile into Dickinson county.
Emmet county authorities say they were attempting to stop a 1989 Chevrolet Camaro for squealing tires. Instead, they say the driver, 24-year-old Jason Scott of Milford, led them on a pursuit at speeds exceeding 110 miles-per-hour.
An Emmet county deputy pursued the vehicle north out of Estherville on a gravel road…then west on Emmet county road A-17. As the vehicle approached the Dickinson county line, it traveled through the intersection with county road N-22. It became airborne about 125 feet before landing on the road. Upon impact, the vehicle went into the south ditch…traveling another 500 feet before coming to rest.
The deputy then apprehended Scott who was charged with wreckless driving, three stop sign violations, eluding a police officer, speeding, no driver’s license, second offense operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana. Scott is being held in the Emmet county jail.
The pursuit started around 12:35 p.m. and ended about 20 minutes later.
