(Des Moines)– State Representative David Johnson of Ocheyedan made it official Monday and filed for the Republican nomination for the new Senate District Three seat in northwest Iowa. The new district is comprised of all of Clay, Dickinson, Osceola and O’Brien counties and four townships in eastern Sioux county.
Johnson said he likes the geographic makeup of the new district…saying it has a lot of economic diversity.
Johnson feels his past experience in both the public and private sectors along with that as a state representative will give him an advantage.
Johnson originally announced his intention to run for the senate last July.
He’s currently serving his second term in the house.
