Ia. DNR REAP Assembly Meets In Arnolds Park

November 23, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– Over a hundred people from a nine county area of northwest Iowa turned out Tuesday evening for the region 3 REAP assembly meeting in Arnolds Park. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is required under law to hold the sessions every-other-year.

The agency’s director, Jeff Vonk, says they’ve been getting a lot of valuable input and recommendations from the assemblies. That information will be presented during the state REAP assembly July 13th in Des Moines.

Among the issues discussed at the local meeting were possibly changing the way funds are distributed for community grant programs so more are awarded to smaller cities; whether to shift funds from the “open spaces” account to park maintenance activities; and other possible sources of revenue…including the possibility of reinstating user fees for state parks.
