(Forest City)– An Armstrong man was killed in an accident Thursday in north central Iowa.
The Iowa State Patrol identifies the victim as 73-year-old Donald Kennedy.
Authorities say Kennedy was eastbound on Highway nine in Winnebago county when for some reason he parked his car on the shoulder and got out of it. Kennedy was standing in the traveled portion of the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Travis Schissel of Spillville, Iowa.
Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The mishap remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office.
