(Arnolds Park)– Mother Nature, West Lake Okoboji and the lakes area Sunrise Kiwanis are about to make someone’s wallet fatter.
Kiwanis spokesman Joe Estes of Spirit Lake says based on the forecast, the car they parked on the ice on Smith’s Bay will probably head to the bottom of West Lake Okoboji in the next day or so.
Tickets were sold in a contest to guess when the car will fall through. Estes says an analog alarm clock in the car should stop within 10 minutes of getting wet. The person who’s guess is closest to the date and time the car goes through wins 500-dollars.
The car will be retrieved by the Okoboji Underwater Search and Rescue Crew and Bob’s Towing and Repair.
The car has been used in similar exercises in the past.
