(Spirit Lake)– A major milestone for a Spirit Lake company.
Brown Medical Industries announced Thursday it’s paid off the notes associated with its relocation to Spirit Lake almost five years ago.
Company President Ivan Brown thanked the various entities who made Brown Medical’s relocation from Hartley possible. Since moving to Spirit Lake, Brown says the company has enjoyed a significant growth in sales and products.
The company is remodeling its plant in the Lakes Business Park on Highway nine west in Spirit Lake. Included is a new area for seminars and an employee break room complete with a pool table, t.v. room, kitchen and outdoor picnic area. Brown says they plan to add offices to the second story of the building, along with a 10-thousand square foot glass addition on the front of the facility and a 30-thousand square foot addition onto the back of the building for manufacturing. A definitive timeframe hasn’t been established. Brown says it will depend on how fast their growth occurs.
Brown Medical recently expanded its product line to include orthopaedic devices…including a universal ankle splint that was recently patented. Brown says they’re in the process of developing 17 new products.
The company markets internationally with Europe being its primary market outside the U.S.
Brown Medical will hold an open house this coming August first to mark its five year anniversary in Spirit Lake.
