Gas Line Ruptures Near Cylinder

November 23, 2014

(Cylinder)– A natural gas line near Cylinder ruptured Monday when a worker installing drain tile hit it with a digger.

The incident took place Monday afternoon a quarter mile east and a half mile south of Cylinder.

The line, owned by Enron, supplies natural gas to the town. Service was disrupted as a result. It was temporarily restored by late Monday afternoon. Permanent repairs were completed and full service was restored around 4:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Palo Alto county authorities say no evacuations were needed as a strong wind dispersed the gas away from town.
