(Arnolds Park)– Efforts to start up a new Boyscout troop in the Iowa Great Lakes were dealt a bit of a setback Thursday evening.
The Arnolds Park City Council denied a request for 400-dollars in funding to start up a new Boyscout troop being formed in the Okoboji and Arnolds Park area. Several council members expressed concern over setting a precedence. Concern was also expressed over the message that might be sent to neighboring troops in Spirit Lake and Milford…where some Arnolds Park boys are currently involved in scouts.
The vote to deny the funding was three-to-one with councilman Mike Koppert casting the lone dissenting vote. Councilman Jim Jensen was absent.
