Dick. Co. Supers Set Bidletting For Courthouse Roof Project

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday set May 14th as the date to receive bids to replace the roof over the 1891 portion of the courthouse.

Plans call for the existing shingles to be removed. Assuming they’re in good condition, the existing membranes in the roof’s valleys will stay. Plans call for two new layers of felt with new asphalt shingles. The existing gutters will be repaired and repainted, and downspouts will be replaced. The project has an August 1st completion date.

There was also more discussion Tuesday of restoring a spire that was originally atop the tower on the northeast side of the building. Architect Mark Aspaas suggested that be done under a separate bid from the roof. No action was taken on that.
