(Spencer)– Northwest Iowa’s Regional Transit Authority, also known as RIDES, is getting a grant of nearly 208-thousand dollars. The money will be used to purchase four vans and a mobile service vehicle.
RIDES will also get a share of about 1.1 million dollars that’s been awarded to the Iowa Department of Transportation to help regional transit providers defray expenses. It will help fund night-time and expanded services in Dickinson and Buena Vista counties; and allow for the hiring of a coordinator for the job access and reverse commute program.
The money is included in a federal transportation funding bill.
