(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake City Council Tuesday set May 14th as the date for a public hearing on a proposed amendment to the city’s zoning ordinance. It would ban radio and television towers and transmission and receiver facilities from areas zoned Highway Commercial. They are currently allowed as a special exception use. Existing facilities would be grandfathered in.
Concern over a proposal by a cellular phone company to erect a tower at the Highway Nine and 71 junction is what led to the proposed change.
