(Estherville)– A stretch of Highway nine in eastern Emmet county is about to become a lot smoother.
Officials with the Iowa Department of Transportation say a re-surfacing project from just east of Estherville to the Kossuth county line will begin in the next couple of weeks. Completion is slated for sometime this fall.
In addition to re-surfacing, the roadway will be widened and will have paved shoulders. Turning lanes will be added at the intersections with county roads N-32 and N-52.
Traffic through the construction zone will be restricted, with vehicles being escorted by pilot cars.
Dunnick Construction of Fairmont, Minnesota is the general contractor on the 8.8 million dollar project.
