(Spirit Lake)– Meeting in special session Tuesday, the Spirit Lake City Council awarded a bid on the city’s loop trail project.
The low bidder was Barry DeLoss Construction of Spencer in the amount of 479,357-dollars. The engineer’s estimate was 628,873-dollars.
The council awarded the bid to DeLoss contingent on the Iowa Department of Transportation taking the same action. The state is paying a major portion of the cost of the project.
The trail will run along the north side of 23rd Street to Highway 71; then south along the highway to the County Farm Road where it will turn east to the proposed site of the YMCA.
