(Spirit Lake)– Authorities Friday afternoon released the name of an infant found dead Thursday in a Spirit Lake residence.
The child is identified as Shania Laird…age four and-a-half months, of 904 12th Street, Spirit Lake. Names of the parents weren’t being released.
No arrests had been made in the case yet as of Friday afternoon…and it’s not clear if any charges are pending.
Authorities say the cause of death remains under investigation and that they’re waiting for autopsy results.
A news release issued Friday afternoon states that the death was reported around 1:19 p.m. Thursday.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting the Spirit Lake Police Department and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office in their investigation.
