November 23, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– Charges have been filed against an Emmetsburg man in connection with a high speed chase that took place earlier today (Mon.) in Palo Alto county.

Authorities say an Emmetsburg police officer spotted a stolen vehicle in the Green Acres Trailer Court in Emmetsburg around 10:20 a.m. The 1983 Chevrolet truck had been previously reported as stolen to the Estherville Police Department on May 21st.

Authorities say the vehicle proceeded westbound out of Emmetsburg leading them on a pursuit that went for more than 30 miles. It ended in a farm field southeast of Ruthven where the driver fled on foot. He was captured a short time later in a nearby wooded area.

The driver was identified as 31-year-old Shawn Eric Pattison of Emmetsburg. He was charged with possessing a stolen vehicle, a class “D” felony; eluding law enforcement, an aggravated misdemeanor; and numerous traffic violations.

Pattison is being held in the Palo Alto county jail on 1,500-dollars cash-only bond and a 7,500-dollars cash or surety bond.

The Emmetsburg Police Department was assisted in the pursuit by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
