(Ashton)– Charges have been filed in connection with a one-vehicle crash Saturday in Osceola county.
The Sheriff’s office says Wilfredo Peralta of Sheldon was northbound on McKinley Avenue about five miles southwest of Ashton when he fell asleep at the wheel and lost control. Authorities say the vehicle swerved to the left, entered the east ditch and vaulted into a cornfield where it rolled two and-a-half times before coming to rest on its top.
A passenger in the vehicle, Henry Araica of Sheldon, was taken by ambulance to the Sheldon hospital with possible injuries. No injuries were reported to Peralta, who was cited for no driver’s license and failure to maintain control.
A 1992 Mazda Peralta was driving sustained an estimated 7,500-dollars in damage.
The crash took place around 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
