Investigation Continues Into Body Of Infant Found At Recycling Center

November 23, 2014

(Storm Lake)– Buena Vista county authorities say they simply don’t have much to go on…and they’re calling on help from the public…as the investigation continues into the death of an infant who’s body was found last week at a recycling center near Storm Lake.

Sheriff Chuck Eddy says investigators over the weekend focused their attention on some time cards found near the infant’s body in hopes they may give some indication as to where it came from. But so far, they haven’t been able to come up with anything.

An autopsy performed Friday by the state medical examiner’s office determined the child was born 24 to 48 hours prior to its discovery at the recycling center. The infant was found to be a male, with dark hair. It’s race hasn’t been determined, but they say African-American has been ruled out.

Additional tests are being conducted, but Eddy says due to the condition of the body, trying to find a manner or cause of death is going to take some time.
