Controversy Continues To Rage Over Roads In East Okoboji Beach

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– An ongoing controversy over roads in the East Okoboji Beach area and who’s responsible for maintaining them was a hot topic again at Tuesday’s Dickinson County Board of Supervisor’s meeting. The issue has come up repeatedly over the past month or so…and it was very evident the lack of a resolution is frustrating residents of that area.

Jack Lorch lambasted supervisors for not doing anything.

Supervisor Chairman June Goldman said they are addressing the matter by appointing a committee of residents, D-N-R officials, the County Attorney and County Engineer to come up with options and report back at the July 30th supervisor meeting.

At issue is one road in particular that leads to a boat ramp on the south side of East Okoboji Beach. Residents are concerned over the high volume of traffic on the unpaved road and all of the dust.
