B-V County Officials Square Off With Planned Parenthood Over Privacy

November 23, 2014

(Storm Lake)– Buena Vista county officials and Planned Parenthood of Iowa are squaring off over a judge’s order to provide investigators names of women who took pregnancy tests.

Investigators requested the information as they look for the mother of a newborn baby who’s body was found at a recycling center near Storm Lake.

Planned Parenthood officials say the testing records are confidential and protected by federal law. The county disagrees.

Planned Parenthood has appealed the judge’s order to the Iowa Supreme Court.

Buena Vista County Sheriff Chuck Eddy disputes allegations by Planned Parenthood that authorities threatened to arrest the director of the Storm Lake clinic for refusing to turn over the records.

The infant’s body ws found May 30th after it had gone through some equipment.

Eddy says they have very few leads to go on and they have no suspects.
