(Arnolds Park)– Officials have determined the cause of a blaze that heavily damaged a maintenance shed last Friday at the Emerald Hills Golf Course in Arnolds Park.
Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire Chief Steve Dulin says David Schipper of the State Fire Marshall’s Office determined some very fine grass clippings that got up inside the engine compartment of a mower started to smoulder and gradually ignited.
Two lawnmowers were destroyed and a skidloader was heavily damaged in the fire.
No injuries were reported.
A fire several years ago at Emerald Hills destroyed the course’s clubhouse. That blaze started in a cart storage area and was believed to have been electrical in nature.
