(Spirit Lake)– Winter storm warnings and advisories are in effect for most of the region today (Friday) as a late season snow storm bears down.
Two inches of snow has fallen so far on the Iowa Great Lakes since it started last night. An additional two to four inches is expected as the day progresses.
It’s a much different story just to the north, in southwest Minnesota. Some areas along and north of Interstate 90 could get more than a foot.
A stiff northeast wind is whipping the snow around in open areas.
Numerous schools in southwest Minnesota…including Jackson County Central and Minnesota West…have called off classes for the day.
Conditions are expected to improve later tonight (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday).Copyright GCI. All rights reserved.
