(Cherokee)– The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash of an ultra-light airplane.
Authorities say they plane went down sometime late this (Sun.) or early this (Sun.) afternoon in a corn field about a mile and-a-half west of Cherokee.
The pilot, who’s name hasn’t been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Cherokee Fire Department, Sioux Valley Memorial Ambulance, and the Cherokee Police Department.
