November 23, 2014

(Hartley)– A two-vehicle crash in O’Brien county has claimed the life of a Hartley man.

O’Brien county authorities say 45-year-old Wylie Kalmer Olsen failed to stop for a stop sign at the junction of two county roads southeast of Hartley. He collided with a pickup driven by 31-year-old Steve Albert of Hartley.

Olsen was taken by ambulance to the Spencer Hospital where he died of severe head injuries.

No injuries were reported to Albert or three passengers in the vehicle he was driving.

The crash took place around 4:20 p.m. Sunday. It remains under investigation by the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
