Crash In North Spencer Sends Three To The Hospital

November 23, 2014

(Spencer)– Three people sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle collision Friday evening at the North Y in Spencer.

Authorities say 38-year-old Allen Averill of Spencer was northbound on Highway 71 while 24-year-old Jazon Ezarski of Emmetsburg had stopped at a stopsign on Highway 18 and was turning onto the northbound lane of Highway 71 when the two collided.

Averill, Ezarski and a passenger in the vehicle Averill was driving, Susan Averill of Spencer, were taken to the Spencer Hospital. All three were treated and released.

10-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 1997 Neon driven by Averill; a 1987 Ford driven by Ezarski sustained an estimated 2,500-dollars in damage.

Ezarski was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.

The collision took place around 5:45 p.m. Friday. It was investigated by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
