Final Review Held On Iowa Great Lakes Cleanwater Project

November 23, 2014

(Wahpeton)– A final review of the Iowa Great Lakes Cleanwater Project was held Tuesday at Lakeside Lab.

The project, which had been in existence since 1991, ended abruptly on June 30th of this year when the state discontinued funding for the coordinator’s position, held by Tim Terrell. Terrell was back in the lakes area to conduct Tuesday’s meeting, which highlighted major accomplishments over the 12 years the project was in place.

Terrell says they’re urging residents to contact state lawmakers to urge them to restore funding to the various soil conservation programs and coordinators.

Since the Iowa Great Lakes Cleanwater Project has been terminated, Terrell has been transferred to a project in Orange City solving a problem with nitrates in the city’s drinking water supply.
