Spirit Lake Business Evacuated

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake business was evacuated late this (Fri.) morning when employees started complaining about a strong odor of gasoline.

Police and firefighters were called to Gentiva Health Services just north of Pronto Convenience Store at the Highway 9 and 71 junction shortly after 11:00 a.m.

Spirit Lake Fire Captain Pat Daly tells KUOO news the convenience store’s bulk gasoline tank was being filled when a south wind carried fumes into the Gentiva building. Two people in the building at the time complained of headaches.

Firefighters aired out the business.

The Gentiva office is located in a complex that houses several other businesses and offices. None of them were affected.
