Antique & Classic Boat Club Approves Name Change

November 23, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– A local group of antique and classic boat enthusiasts is changing its name.

Chapter President Mike Hagan says what used to be the “Iowa Great Lakes Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boating Society” will now be known as the “Jerry Dyhrkopp Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boating Society”. Hagan says club members approved the name change at their annual meeting this past weekend.

Dyhrkopp restored and maintained many of the wooden boats currently in operation on the Iowa Great Lakes and was honored for his years of service to the club. Dyhrkopp recently passed away.

Hagan also reported this year’s wooden boat show was a huge success, with more than 3,500 people in attendance. It’s believed to be a one-day attendance record.

Next year’s show is set for Saturday, August 30th with a rain date of Sunday, August 31st.
