Two More People Run As Write-Ins For Okoboji School Board

November 23, 2014

(Milford)– Two more people announced Monday they’re going to run as write-in candidates in Tuesday’s Okoboji School Board election.

Mark Fisher and Tom Clary said they made the decision over the weekend after being contacted by a lot of people.

Fisher is completing his first term on the board. He says the Okoboji has a lot to be proud of and he’s excited for the future. Fisher said he wants to continue building on that.

Tom Clary has served previously as a school board President in the 1980’s. Clary said he would make giving taxpayers more bang for their buck a priority if he’s elected.

Four people are now running for two open seats on the Okoboji board. Originally, William Shafer was the only announced candidate. In addition to Fisher and Clary, Katherine Lambertson, pastor at Union Memorial Church in Milford, is also running as a write-in.

In the Terril district, one of two open seats will have to be decided by a write-in. William Gerdeman was the only person to file.

In Spirit Lake, Incumbent Carol Schultz is being challenged by Cliff Garvey.

The ballot for the Harris-Lake Park district is uncontested.

Polls for Tuesday’s school board elections will be open from Noon until 8:00 p.m.
