(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors are considering a noise ordinance.
Supervisors earlier this week reviewed a proposed ordinance that’s modeled after one already on the books in Arnolds Park.
Supervisor Chair June Goldman says complaints about loud boat motors and noise coming from bars is what resulted in them considering the ordinance.
Supervisors are pressing the Department of Natural Resources to get involved in the issue of loud boats. The county is writing a letter to D-N-R head Jeff Vonk. They also directed the Assistant County Attorney to meet with Lakes Patrol officials.
In the meantime the supervisors will continue to review and refine the proposed ordinance. Goldman says she wants it on the books by next summer.
