(Milford)– A former Spirit Lake cop has a new job.
Doug Ricke has been hired as a part-time officer for the Milford Police Department. The city’s police force has been short on man power since last month’s resignation of officer Jeremy Bellis.
Ricke was terminated as an officer on the Spirit Lake Police Department in June. He’s suing the city of Spirit Lake, Mayor Eric Nielsen and Police Chief Jon Martyr, claiming he was wrongfully terminated for being a whistleblower about alleged irregularities in the department.
City officials haven’t commented on reasons for the termination.
The suit seeks damages for, among other things, humiliation, embarrassment and damage to reputation.
