Jobless Rates Increase Slightly In September

(Des Moines)– Iowa’s unemployment rate was up slightly in September…increasing to 3.9 percent from 3.7 percent in August. That word today (Thurs.) from Iowa Workforce Development.

The trend was pretty much the same locally. In Dickinson county, the September jobless rate was 2.1 percent, compared with 1.8 percent in August.

In Clay county it was three percent…up from 2.9 percent in August. The combined rate for the two counties was 2.5 percent.

September jobless rates in other local counties included Emmet at 3.8 percent; Palo Alto at 3.1 percent; O’Brien at 2.4 percent and Osceola at 1.9 percent.
