(Spencer)– No injuries were reported in a pickup fire this (Fri.) afternoon in Spencer.
Authorities say the driver was backing the truck into the solid waste transfer station on West 18th Street when the engine compartment burst into flames.
The driver managed to get out unharmed.
Bystanders used fire extinguishers to contain the fire to the pickup until the fire department arrived. There was no damage to the building.
The truck, owned by Nicholas Navarro of Spirit Lake, was loaded with roofing materials.
The incident took place around 1:00 p.m.
