(Spirit Lake)– Site work is underway on a new 37-thousand square foot operating facility Alliant Energy is building in Spirit Lake. It will be located just east of the fire station on 10 acres of land at the corner of 20th Street and Lincoln Avenue.
Company officials say the project is slated for completion by the fall of 2003.
Officials say the new facility will house operating, substation and maintenance personnel. It will include garages for trucks and utility equipment based out of Spirit Lake.
The facility will also serve as a materials storage and distribution center for Alliant Energy’s electric and gas franchises in neighboring areas of northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota.
Company officials say the new facility will result in a more efficient operation.
Officials aren’t saying how much the project will cost.
