Polaris Eyes Possible Expansion

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Additional jobs could be coming to Spirit Lake.

Polaris Industries is thinking about expanding its plant by 33-thousand square feet. Company officials say it would bring an additional 120 jobs over three years.

The Spirit Lake City Council Tuesday voted unanimously to back an incentive package the Corridor of Opportunity is putting together for the company. It consists of a 360-thousand dollar grant being applied for through the Iowa Department of Economic Development’s Community Economic Betterment Account, or CEBA, and 120-thousand dollars in tax increment financing through the city. Chad Shryock of the Corridor of Opportunity says they should hear something back on the CEBA grant sometime next week.

Polaris currently employes 540 people in Spirit Lake.
