(Sioux Rapids)– A major fire has rocked another northwest Iowa community. This time it’s Sioux Rapids.
Firefighters from Sioux Rapids and several neighboring towns were called to D-C-S Sanitation on Highway 71 around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday. It took several hours to bring the blaze under control. Authorities say cleaning solvents in the building made the fire difficult to battle.
Gas pumps at a neighboring Casey’s convenience store were shut down for awhile as a precaution.
Firefighters remained on the scene late into the night.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
No injuries were reported.
Traffic on Highway 71 was routed around the scene until about 10:30 p.m.
