Graettinger & Terril School Boards Meet

November 23, 2014

(Terril)– The Terril and Graettinger school boards held a joint working session Thursday.

Terril Superintendent Bruce Tepfer says the two boards compared strong points of the two districts, and identified common concerns. He says they include declining enrollment, phasing out of the budget guarantee, teacher shortages in certain program areas, and meeting new requirements with the federal government’s “No Child Left Behind” legislation.

Tepfer says the boards directed their administrations to gather data that would assist them to identify ways to address those challenges.

Tepfer says both boards recognized the issues facing public boards of education require a proactive strategy, and that collaboration in studying the issues would benefit both districts. He says that’s what led up to the meeting.

Tepfer says both districts will probably hold public informational meetings with patrons later this winter or next spring, once the additional information is gathered.
