Traffic Stop Lands Windom, Mn. Woman In Jail On Drug Charges

(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop early Sunday in Spirit Lake has landed a Windom, Minnesota woman in jail on drug charges.

Spirit Lake police say officers stopped a vehicle around 2:30 a.m. in the Wal-Mart parking lot for traffic violations. Authorities say a subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a quantity of methamphetamine, some drug paraphernalia and a small amount of cash.

The driver, 25-year-old Rachel Pankonin of Windom, Minnesota, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; operating while intoxicated, third offense; and three other traffic violations.

Pankonin was booked into the Dickinson county jail.

Authorities say the incident remains under investigation.
