(Spirit Lake)– A Hartley man was injured in a one vehicle accident Saturday on Highway 86 at the Iowa/Minnesota border.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Ali Abkihakim of Hartley lost control of a 1996 Plymouth Breeze as he was traveling southbound. Authorities say the vehicle’s right tires dropped off the roadway onto the right shoulder and that Abkihakim lost control when he overcorrected, causing the vehicle to swerve across the roadway into the northbound lane. It entered the west ditch and rolled about three times.
Abkihakim, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
14-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the vehicle.
The mishap took place around 2:30 p.m.
