(Rock Valley)– Sioux county authorities want to examine the body of an 87-year-old man to try to figure out exactly how he died.
Sheriff Jim Schwiesow says they’ll seek a court order to exhume the body of Dick Post. Post died April 16th at the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley. A woman who was an employee at the nursing home at the time has been charged with first-degree murder. 26-year-old Christine Lee VanOort has been charged with first degree murder. She’s being held in the Osceola county jail on 500-thousand dollars bond. Officials allege Van Oort, a native of Canada, confessed to authorities there that she had killed someone in Iowa.
Meanwhile, the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals announced Friday it’s stepping into the investigation. Department head Dave Werning says their probe probably won’t start until after the official investigation is over.
