Estherville Man Convicted On Kindapping, Burglary & Child Endangerment

November 23, 2014

(Estherville)– An Emmet county jury has convicted an Estherville man on charges of kidnapping in the second degree, burglary in the first degree and child endangerment with bodily injury.

The charges were filed against 31-year-old Chad Kollasch as the result of a domestic disturbance that took place at his wife’s residence in Estherville on July 15th of this year. Officers said Kollasch was armed with a knife and had been involved in an altercation.

During the trial this week, prosecutors contended Kollasch struck his child during the altercation with his wife, resulting in a bruised eye. Defense attorney Pamela Wingert of Spirit Lake contended Kollasch went to the residence without the intent to commit an assault and that Kollasch’s wife wasn’t kidnapped, saying she was able to move around the house. The prosecution contended the confinement took place when Kollasch held his wife at knifepoint.

Sentencing for Kollasch is set for February 3rd, 2003.
