Dickinson Co. Supervisors Approve Re-zoning For Indoor Skate Park

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Coming soon to the Iowa Great Lakes: an indoor skate park and BMX biking facility.

The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday unanimously approved a recommendation from the planning and zoning commission to rezone land two miles south of Milford on the east side of Highway 71 from agricultural to highway commercial.

Jason Chaffin of Okoboji Bikes requested the change. He plans to build a new 56 by 150 foot store that will include an indoor skate park and BMX biking facility.

Chaffin says he plans to close the present Okoboji Bikes stores in Arnolds Park and Spencer once the new location is up and running sometime next fall.

Chaffin says he’ll hold meetings with area youth to get their input on a design for the facility.
