(Worthington, Mn.)– Frost-covered roads resulted in several accidents Tuesday morning in southwest Minnesota.

The first one took place around 7:44 a.m. on Interstate 90 just east of Rushmore. The Minnesota State Patrol says 17-year-old Abby Boltjes of Rushmore lost control of a 1996 GMC Jimmy that left the road and rolled. Minor injuries were reported to Boltjes, who was alone in her vehicle. She apparently didn’t seek immediate treatment, though. The vehicle was totaled.

The second mishap occurred less than an hour later-at about 8:20 a.m. just west of Rushmore on I-90. Authorities say 25-year-old Jack Cantebury of Windom lost control of a 1989 Ford Aerostar van that left the road and rolled. Cantebury, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken to the Worthington hospital where he was treated for a sore neck. Moderate damage was reported to the vehicle.

The next mishap took place about 40 minutes later-shortly after 9:00 a.m. The State Patrol says 18-year-old Sara Smook of Luverne lost control of a 2000 Chevrolet pickup just west of Luverne on I-90. The vehicle left the road and rolled. Smook was taken to the Luverne hospital where she was treated for minor injuries. A passenger, 48-year-old Arlene Smook of Luverne, was taken to the Luverne hospital with a shoulder injury and cuts to her head.

The fourth mishap took place minutes later-at 9:05 a.m. on highways 59 and 60 south of Worthington. The State Patrol says 79-year-old Sievert Wasmund of Bigelow was driving a 1990 Mazda pickup that collided with a properly parked, unattended vehicle. Wasmund was taken to the Worthington hospital with a head laceration and four broken ribs. Extensive damage was reported to the vehicles.
